Pi-hole 2.10.1 / 2.0.1 Fixes Zero Blocked Queries And More

This update should fix many of the issues you may have run into with the last release.  You can install this update with:

pihole -up

It also contains:

As usual, you can find all the changes we made at changes.pi-hole.net.

Details On The Zero Blocked Bug

The zero blocked queries bug in the Web interface turned out to do with the hostname of your device.  The bug does not affect the actual operation of Pi-hole–queries are still being blocked–it’s just they’re not displaying correctly on the Admin UI.

If it pertains to words contained in the line /etc/pihole/gravity.list (e.g hostname is pihole, pi, hole, gravity, etc etc.) then the lines in /var/log/pihole.log that contain /etc/pihole/gravity.list (used to identify blocked queries) will be discounted!

  1. Thank you for this wonderful update. The temperature now shows up in Firefox, UI scaling issues have been resolved and we are able to use a password for the panel. You made my day. Merry Christmas!

  2. Uuuuugh. Install hangs. After issuing “pihole -up” the “Installing packages” “Configuring lightdm” progress window hangs @ 15%. Looks like no way to exit gracefully.

  3. Hi. “-up” worked after a reboot.

    FWIW, I see that after upgrading to: ver 2.10.2 and UI ver 2.2 the web UI hangs and is not accessible. The browser just waits … and waits. Reproducible on two machines on the LAN.

    Access via RDT is fine and PiHole seems to be functioning properly. It’s just a matter of the UI. At first only the four colored blocks at the top of the screen populated and nothing else. After a reboot of the Pi, there is no web access at all.

  4. Just updated from 2.10.1 to 2.11. The temperature is no longer visible in Firefox. I dunno what has changed, but this worked for me:

    .pull-left
    {
    width: 100%
    }
