Pi-hole Will Be Participating In Hacktoberfest
If you’re interested in winning a free t-shirt from DigitalOcean (who is teaming up with GitHub to run the promotion), you need to make 4 pull requests in the month of October to any public repo. We have tagged several issues on our repos with the hacktoberfest label, if you are you interested in quickly seeing where we could use some help.
You may also want to check out our top-voted feature requests and see if there are any you are able to implement. Please don’t make “spammy” pull requests as we will just tag them as invalid.
When Is The Next Release Of Pi-hole?
You may have already noticed a small update is available for FTL. As for the other repos, while the wait for the next release has been longer than usual, we realise that there are people using Pi-hole in production and in large environments, and we want to make sure it’s as solid as we can make it before hitting the publish button.
We hope you’ll forgive us for taking our time, and understand that that we don’t want to release an unfinished product
However, if you want to help test out the new version, you can use the pihole checkout
command to switch your installation to the development
version.
We do not recommend this if you are using Pi-hole in a production environment as our development
branch is not considered stable–it’s more like our sandbox to play and get things right before a release. But if you simply can’t wait to feast on the new stuff we have in place, you can. Please make sure to report to us any bugs or issues you run into.
